Secondary school teachers and the NJC

The Neighbourhood Justice Centre believes that justice begins at home, in our community, and in the classroom.

VCE Legal Studies Students and their teachers will soon have a suite of resources about community justice which we are developing in response to the demand for our onsite information sessions.

Our Community Justice Toolkit will include easy-to-understand articles, and practical examples to help students comprehend a broad range of justice issues including the  alternative approaches to sentencing, social factors considered by judges in sentencing under a therapeutic model, and alternative dispute resolution and more.

The toolkit  include videos, interactive activities, and written resources to enhance the existing teaching program.

The Community Justice Toolkit is made in consultation with teachers, and to fit the requirements of the latest VCAA Legal Studies Study Design.  And while designed for VCE Legal Studies, resources will be easily adapted in other contexts.

The NJC will be holding some professional development activities for teachers on Community Justice late in 2018.
