Settling into life in Australia

Arriving in a new country is always challenging and without help it can be hard to work out things like getting a license to drive a car, or how the school system works. Even finding a doctor or understanding phone bills can be tricky. Thankfully, the Neighbourhood Justice Centre can help.

If you have been living in Australia for less than five years, we can help you settle into live in the City of Yarra.

We can help you to understand and access necessary services and programs, including:

  • Housing
  • Jobs and education
  • Centrelink
  • Health services
  • Citizenship
  • Referrals to migration services
  • Material aid
  • Volunteer support

Life skills and other programs

We also assist community groups to develop programs, including programs such as:

  • Learn to drive
  • Leadership skills
  • Health and well-being.

Support services are free and easy to organise. Call the NJC on 9948 8777 or drop in. We'll organise our refugee and migrant workers to talk to you.
